 FLOWGI PRESENTS…
Beautiful FLOWGI Moments ON >
SUNDAY FUN DAY

The bright sun was shining the whole day on that beautiful day
Sunday 24 June 2007.

The
warmest sun illuminated a small village, SD Banjardadap, Bantul, Yogyakarta.

Some people looked so busy over there; they were arranging the podium, dining tables, and preparing the programs for the Sunday-Fun-Day show.
All students, the students’ parents and the guests started coming around

 at 07.30 a.m.

Few minutes later, the first agenda begun.

Every weekend Yani gives English lessons to lots of
children of Maliklo,
a little village where Yani lives

In January 2007 Flowgi asked me to make a proposal of an English course,
I accepted the idea and started to teach in February,
Hopefully this activity will make us be a better person
in order to prepare ourselves to face the future

April 1st,  2007.
Some changes in our Organization

For 2007 Flowgi foundation started two ‘Back To School’  projects:
Banjardadap school in Yogyakarta and school in Montong Gamang-Lombok.
De two running projects in Bali and Yogyakarta will be proceeded by
the new foundation Anakita.

Orphanage Ghifari and SMP Bali (school) are going to expand and this will
have a financial impact on the budget of the other projects of Flowgi.
This two projects will be put under a new foundation Anakita.

Therefore there are some consequences for the Flowgi board.

Kees Hoekstra, Tuty Vaasen en Rex Johan leave the Flowgi board and
form a new foundation "Anakita".

There will be a new Chairman for Flowgi.

Ruby Nauman replaces Tuty, Lucy Flokstra replaces Rex Johan.

And our new secretary is Leslie Lim.

Flowgi and Anakita will support each other whenever possible.
In this way we can help more children to a better future.

We would like to thank Kees, Tuty and Rex so much for their dedication
and all the good work over the past years and wish them good luck with
the new foundation.

Something special about these houses along the river of kali Code

Father Mangunwijaya
received Aga Khan Award in 1992 for his work with the slum dwellers in
kali Code
Yogyakarta. (Gondolayu)
Guided by volunteer art students, tenants painted the exteriors of their houses
using traditional animal, plant and monster motifs. The jury found that although
"the scale is small, yet the achievement within the given constraints is immense
and humane - a compelling model for the world at large."

A small contribution from Flowgi to help the flood victims

The 2007 Jakarta flood was a major flood in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia and affected several other areas around the city. The flood beginning on February 2, 2007 was a result of heavy rain, deforestation and waterways clogged with rubbish .The flood is considered the worst in the last three centuries, including the 1996 and 2002 Jakarta floods, which killed 10 and 25 people respectively.
